What are the effects of PC? /What are the benefits from being "politically correct"? /Is being "politically correct" ruining something? /Is being "politically correct" taking away freedom from people?

As I said, political correctness isn't a bad thing. Making a good society for all of us is a wonderful thing to do.

The problem is that it limits the range of the range of people's opinions. Jonathan Kay insist that human beings like the power to shut up other people and we could easily do that on internet these days. We could crowdsource censorship using SNS and criticize what they didn't like immediately. That will prevent people to say what they really want to say on the internet.

Being politically correct is not a bad thing, but what you do with it is important.

  1. That seems to be a reasonable and measured view of the issue. People do try to shut down others too quickly, and often prematurely, if they hear something they don't like. Unfortunately, social media makes this too easy to do. Some people get drunk on the power they have to criticize and censor others.

When did the meaning of PC changed?

The term "Political Correctness" appeared in a U.S. Supreme Court decision about the boundaries of federal jurisdiction in 1793. It has been used to describe what is politically wise, and it has been employed as ironic self-mockery.   However, leftists in the 1970s and 1980s used the term as self-critical, ironic satire. It used as a joke among leftists.  Later, the term was started to be used as a criticism of New Left modern in the late 20th century and popularized by a number of articles in The New York Times and other media. Which is important; quality or diversity?/Is being historically accurate offensive to some people?/Is putting race and sexism into every discussion, media and art is "politically correct"?

In my personal opinion, both of them are very important. Recently, the video game industry has become more diverse than ever. Not only the women's social progress, people from all over the country has been supporting video game industry.   Games that has many characters such as Apex Legends and Overwatch, all of them are from different country, has different sex, religions and it is very diverse. Of course the diversity in gaming is a good thing, but not everything is good.  A good example is Witcher 3 incident. The game was criticized because all the character in the game was white. However, the Witcher 3 is set in Poland, created by Polish man and it is based on Polish mythology and European Folklore. So criticizing that there is no Black or Asian character in Witcher is an mistake because that is the culture and the demographic in the game. You don't have to put colored skinned character in the game if it doesn't make sense. Putting race and sexism into eve...
