What are the effects of PC? /What are the benefits from being "politically correct"? /Is being "politically correct" ruining something? /Is being "politically correct" taking away freedom from people?

As I said, political correctness isn't a bad thing. Making a good society for all of us is a wonderful thing to do.

The problem is that it limits the range of the range of people's opinions. Jonathan Kay insist that human beings like the power to shut up other people and we could easily do that on internet these days. We could crowdsource censorship using SNS and criticize what they didn't like immediately. That will prevent people to say what they really want to say on the internet.

Being politically correct is not a bad thing, but what you do with it is important.

  1. That seems to be a reasonable and measured view of the issue. People do try to shut down others too quickly, and often prematurely, if they hear something they don't like. Unfortunately, social media makes this too easy to do. Some people get drunk on the power they have to criticize and censor others.

Why is PC being criticized?/What is "Social Justice Warrior" aka "SJW"?/ Why is "SJW" being criticized?/Is certain people becoming too aggressive trying to push and conform people to their ideology?

Social Justice Warriors, aka SJWs, use political correctness as a weapon to criticize what they think is "politically incorrect". Social justice warrior (SJW) is a term used for an individual who promotes socially progressive and liberal views, including feminism, civil rights, gay and transgender rights. Most of the time, saying somebody is a SJW means that they are pursuing his/her personal validation rather than the actual "liberal" way of thinking.  So basically, it is not the political correctness itself that are being criticized but the SWJs, people who are using it as a weapon are instead. Why are some people thinks being "politically correct" is a good thing to do?/Why are some people against PC?

Being "politically correct" is not a bad thing at all. We all want to live in a good society, with less racism and less sexism. So trying to figure out how to make a good society and being "politically correct" in a correct way is not a problem. The problem is the people who are weaponizing PC to say what they think is right and denying other people the right to free speech just because they were, in their words, "politically incorrect".  Most people who dislike political correctness, it’s mostly because they will become unable to act and behave as they want when they associate with political correctness.  What’s the deal with political correctness? Any examples of people who are for/against PC?

Since this blog will mainly be about PC in subcultures, the most famous PC person has to be Anita Sarkeesian. She is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaker. She made a video series examining gender tropes in video games using crowdfunding. Sarkeesian was targeted by an online harassment campaign after the launch of a Kickstarter project to fund the Tropes vs. Women in Video Games series.   Also another famous person who are for PC in the gaming society is Neil Druckmann, the director of "The Last of Us part 2". He was also criticized by many gamers since he cited Anita as an influence.   On the other hand, Youtuber "The Act Man" posted few videos criticizing PC and SWJ in video games.
