Perspective of C.H.S, a philosopher

I think it is great that the world of games is expanding and there are more women creating and playing games. However, things are getting little complexed here.

Video games were always a victim of controversial topic such as "video games will cause violence" concern. That concern was determined as a spurious correlation in many studies, but now there is a new problem; gender and race problems in games. Some critics are criticizing video games like " why isn't gaming more inclusive?", "why must always a male heroes?" and "why are female characters are portrayed as Damsels in distress or sex object in games?" and so on. Some evidences are trustworthy, but the actual video game world are becoming more inclusive than ever now. There are more female and colored skin characters as a main character in games.

Also, "the game is a male-culture"? "The games are made for men because the female characters are symbolized as a sexual character"? I think those aren't true. The gamers, they just love games. They don't really care about the age, race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual preferences. All they want, is a good game.

So, to the "critics" or gender activist and those kinds of people who thinks they are bringing video games to justice for good or acting politically correct, I think the gaming world is not as awful as you guys think.

When did the meaning of PC changed?

The term "Political Correctness" appeared in a U.S. Supreme Court decision about the boundaries of federal jurisdiction in 1793. It has been used to describe what is politically wise, and it has been employed as ironic self-mockery.   However, leftists in the 1970s and 1980s used the term as self-critical, ironic satire. It used as a joke among leftists.  Later, the term was started to be used as a criticism of New Left modern in the late 20th century and popularized by a number of articles in The New York Times and other media. Which is important; quality or diversity?/Is being historically accurate offensive to some people?/Is putting race and sexism into every discussion, media and art is "politically correct"?

In my personal opinion, both of them are very important. Recently, the video game industry has become more diverse than ever. Not only the women's social progress, people from all over the country has been supporting video game industry.   Games that has many characters such as Apex Legends and Overwatch, all of them are from different country, has different sex, religions and it is very diverse. Of course the diversity in gaming is a good thing, but not everything is good.  A good example is Witcher 3 incident. The game was criticized because all the character in the game was white. However, the Witcher 3 is set in Poland, created by Polish man and it is based on Polish mythology and European Folklore. So criticizing that there is no Black or Asian character in Witcher is an mistake because that is the culture and the demographic in the game. You don't have to put colored skinned character in the game if it doesn't make sense. Putting race and sexism into eve...
